I had a similar problem with my grandfather. The lovely people here pointed out that with a marriage reference, I could buy a copy of the marriage cert online (for £7, don't pay more) and that would have more information on it. From that, you could work out more about when your grandmother was born, her father's name and occupation should be listed (as well as the groom's father's) so you could work back from there. A birth cert. is good, as it has both parents info, and can have an address to go on too. Happy hunting.

When and where did you grandmother marry? As you have the m/c, can you give the full details and where she appears on the 1901 census. Happy to have a hunt for you. Sue

can someone tell me how i can find my grand mothers parents when i cannt find her birth, her wedding cert doesnt add up, like her father doesnt seem to want to be found anywere and i dont know her mothers name shes NOT the one on the cesus's she doesnt show till she is on 1901 census married to my grandfather. whats best just give up on her and leave a gap, you people have been good trying and find her before for me. just need a second view on it fran
