Base born infant??

Hi all i was wondering if anyone knew what a Base born chid was,i think it means illegitimate but dont know?? Hugs xx

I think it's another way of saying illegitimate, as in the way you might also come across 'natural', as in Fred, the natural child of Elizabeth Smith. Apparently, if you were better off or of high standing in the community, the baby was more likely to be noted as the 'natural' child. I don't think 'base born' sounds as complimentary.

Check out if the child has a middle name that is a surname - 10 to 1 it will be the errant fathers surname which may give you a further lead - possibly bastardy bond too.
