Once you get their fathers names and occupations on their marriage certificate you can look for them in the 1901 census and then move backwards through certificates and census info and finally parish records. You havent got a brick wall, its a straw one, believe me - wait til you are back to parish records thats when you go round in circles. |

Yes the marriage certificate is a must have document. Plus it should give their addresses at the time of the marriage and the witnesses too...who are usually other relatives. Most often siblings of the bride and groom but they could also be aunts and uncles. This will also help you when searching earlier census records. |

Do you have their marriage certificate ? That will give you the names of both Frederick and Ellen's fathers and their occupations. Try looking at the 1901 census for both Frederick Cooper and Ellen Sarah Smith in the Islington area, and you may find them with their parents and siblings. Once you have Frederick and Ellen's marriage certificate, which will tell you how old they were at marriage, you can then search for their births and order their birth certificates. |
