does anyone know about the henry stephens family in portsmouth alverstoke henry stephens had abig funeral trying to find any pictures or info on it henry james stephens sorry he was born 1835/36 isle of wight but came to portsmouth and settled i know they are abig naval family and was told henry had abig horse drawn carriage funeral they lived in alverstoke and his wife was jane compton

sorry not sure when he died i know it was after 1900 as my mother in law remembered the funeral sorry

portsmouth news but at the time i didnt have his date of birth may try them again i prob need to get death date then i know they were a big naval family apparantly going back to nelson it would be really nice to get cutting

Do you know what your relative did in the Royal Navy, Portsmouth has upwards of 900 memorials around the city and in various naval establishments and if he had a distinguished career then he could well be on one of these.

i dont know exactly i know it was something to do with guns armourer maybe i was also told that a picture of him was on the wall in a british legion i nkow he was from alverstoke king street
