I am trying to help a friend. I am tracing a Patrick O' Grady b.c. 1888 with father Michael, according to 1913 marriage certificate. In 1901 he appears aged apparently 23 but I think this should be 13[looking at the age of his siblings and parents] Father Michael b. Dublin, mother Jenny b. Marylebone. BUT in 1891 Patrick appears aged 4 at the same address, with the same siblings, with father Thomas b. Ireland and his wife Norah b. Ireland! I could accept that there may have been a new wife. I accept that Michael may have been Michael Thomas or Thomas Michael, but BOTH different? Advice please.

1901 census lists him as a General Labourer. The image is definitely '23' for his age.........although it does seem odd, in view of the fact that he is recorded after the 14-year old. There's a big gap then in ages............to the youngest two I can't see them in 1891........ could you give the refs Reg

Sorry, he appears as Patsey Grady!!! Son aged 4!!! RG12/98----sorry, no good, I don't have folio number just page 62! But father is shown here as Thomas Grady aged 36[?]. The point is that they are at the same address and the siblings are the same!! Wendy

Just from what you've said, Could the Patrick aged 23 on the 1901 census be the father's brother or cousin - a lodger - hence mentioned after/in the middle of the children? . maggie

Good thought Maggie but he is shown as son of a father aged 41 with wife aged 35! Siblings above him are 17,15 and 14, siblings below him are 4 and 3. This does suggest a 2nd wife, but I can't find marriage of Thomas/Michael Grady/O'Grady to any Norah or Jenny! And 'patsey' aged 4 is shown as son in 1891 at same address.
