Hi Dennis. I assume you mean your tree on here and that you have Family Tree Maker (FTM) since you mention it. 1. You can transfer parts of other people tree onto you tree but it will have to be done via FTM, you can't do it on genes. 2. If you go to 'import/export' tree on the left of here, you can export your tree from this site. Genesreconnected will send it to you as an attachment to an email. Save the attachment somewhere on your PC. Open FTM and then you should be able to open the GEDCOM you have just saved. 3. Yes 4. if you have Family Tree Maker or someother family history programme then they can all read Gedcoms. Back to No.1, you would have to export your tree from here to FTM. Then the other person would have to send you part of their tree as a gedcom, you can then use FTM to 'merge' the two files. If you wanted the merged tree on this site, you can then upload it again once merged. Sam x

Dennis There's an excellent thread which I've nudged for you. Loads of step-by-step info and 'how to..' advice. Just what I needed myself - still working it all out, but I'm getting there! Good luck! Bx
