Soft as... Wikipedia has something different: The parish church of Liverpool is the Anglican Our Lady and St Nicholas, colloquially known as 'the sailors church', which has existed near the waterfront since 1257. Is there a possibility that 'The Parish Church' has changed over time? Karen

Soft as... Extracted from following web site http://www(.)lan-opc(.)org(.)uk/Liverpool/index.html 'The Church of St.Mary Walton was originally the parish church of Liverpool'. There is also a subsequent link associated with the Church. Alternatively is there a way you can isolate the church according to the registrar. Maybe somewhere there is a list of registrars and the churches they were associated with. Karen

A bit more info on this.. Great grandma married twice, in 1868 and 1894, both times in the same church and with the same registra in attendance. The certs say.....Marriage solemnized at..The Parish Church in the Parish of Liverpool in the County of Lancashire. Kathlyn

I always thought that St Peter's was the Parish Church. I have certs from both St Nicholas and St Peter but they both give the church name.

is this the same query as last week? if so it was established that it had to be the city centre one in the scotland road area not the roby one......there must be a location regarding the marriage of some sort....or a denominational clue.

I don't know the area but this was on a Google search..... From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia The Church of Our Lady and Saint Nicholas is known locally as 'The Sailors' Church' and simply 'St Nick's'. Building Information Location Liverpool Country England Architect Edward C. Butler (church) Thomas Harrison (tower) Construction Start Date March 1949 (church) 1811 (tower) Completion Date 1952 (church) 1815 (tower) The Church of Our Lady and Saint Nicholas is the parish church of Liverpool. The site is said to have been a place of worship since at least 1257. The church is situated close to the River Mersey near the Pier Head. The Chapel of St Nicholas (Patron Saint of Sailors) was built on the site of St Mary del Quay which was considered too small for the growing borough of Liverpool in 1356. Gwyn
