Hi Andrea, thanks for your thoughts on this, it's certainly made me more aware not to take everything you see as true. I didn't think she'd be able to do that, but I can now understand how it could have come about. thank you again, it's most appreciated. God hunting to you, Lou |

It could be that she gave her name as Baker and gave her father's name as Morgan then both names should show up on the index but don't always as I have found before on the Staffordshire site. She should then show up as Baker on the main BMD index. |

Hi Keith, No I haven't read it yet, but may just look it up now as this FT business always manages to throw me off balance and make me think I'm the only going crazy, thank goodness there are folk out there like you and Kath that help to put my mind at ease. Hi Kath, yes it's strange isn't it, but I'm now thinking like Keith that it must be a mistranscription. thank you to you both for your help, I would like to wish you both good hunting. regards Lou |

Lou, have you read 'A Comedy of Errors' or 'The marriage records of England and Wales 1837-1899' by Micheal Whitfield Foster ISBN 0-473-05581-3 Contains errors and omissions from the index that would make your hair curl! Very interesting reading. |

Hi Keith, Yes I've finally found it. Thanks for the idea of mistranscription. I really didn't think something this obviously wrong could happen! Sorry but it looks as if I'm experienceing difficulty with ancestry, as just tried it again, and again only the Jan Q is coming up. will definatley have to contact them. thanks again everyone. Good hunting to you all, Regards, Lou |

Hi Kath, I've tried ancestry on several occassions and couldn't find her. the last time was about 2 hours ago and I thought it was strange but it didn't matter what surname I put in the only quarter that came up was Jan Q. There were no other records for those surnames. Is it that Ancestry is playing up? I've just gone onto it again and for the first time all 4 Quarters came up. I've had this problem before with Ancestry where I new the exact date of birth and mother's maiden name yet nothing came up for ages! Might have to contact them. thanks for looking, but what do you make of the different names on the Staffordshire site? Lou |

1943 Q4 from complete marriage images Stadnick John, married Baker, Lichfield 6b 803 Baker Violet E, married Stadnick, Lichfield 6b 803 I cannot see a Violet Morgan marriage in Q4 at all. I suspect it is a mistranscrition on StaffsBMD site somehow. |

Hi Kathleen, I know it's so confusing. I've tried all 3 surnames and can't find any marriage on Ancestry. The marriage I did find was on Staffordshire BMD site. Lou |

Hi all, I was searching for a marriage of a Violet Morgan and found her marrying a J Stadnick. Just to cross reference I put in his name and found him marrying a Baker, yet the christian name and middle initial is the same. On rechecking I put in the surname Baker and J Stadnick came up. It's the same year too. The weird thing is her mother had remarried and her married name was Baker. I had thought maybe she changed her surname by deed poll but then why would she come up as a Morgan? Any other ideas anyone? thanks Lou |
