Sometimes these were the only places in the area with medical facilities so maybe he was receiving treatment. |

Hi am currently researching my Guscott side of my tree. I was wondering if anyone could tell me why children would be put into these institutions when they are not orphans. I only ask because there is a Henry Guscott b.1873 of Devon in an orphanage in 1881 census but with his parents in 1891 census? Any suggestions? Quite a newby so anything helps. Mary-lou |
