Hi, I'm trying to find birth details for my great great grandfather Edward Vaux. He was born c1849 in Walworth, Surrey. The first detail I can find is his marriage record in August 1871 in Marylebone. (copy certificate shows him marrying Fanny Amelia Collins and gives his father as John Vaux) He appears on the 1881, 1891 & 1901 censuses with his wife and family but not on the previous ones. I've tried checking the BMD for 1849 & 1850 but have had no success. Doe anyone have any ideas?

maybe his birth wasnt registered- wasn't compulsory until 1870's

I've searched for hin in 51, 61 and 71. Nothing. Nothing on Familysearch. Nothing on the BVRI discs. I give up! Margaret
