It almost looks as though its scribbled out ( not by the line though) Its certainly not 'Mar' or 'Un' but i cant make it a W either |

Would some kind soul please take a look at an 1861 census in Terrington St Clement, Norfolk. It's RG9/1051 with Mary Rayner at schedule No. 272. she's clearly down as Head age 31, Washerwoman but what I really want to know is what mark is under Condition. Could it be an abbreviation for widow? Unfortunately, a fat, black line has been marked right through the middle. Thanks. Jo |
