Hi, I can really do with some help so if there are any super sleuths out there. I can trace George Newberry (Newbury) up to the 1861 census 1861 Gloucester St Mary la Crypt, Gloucestershire RG9; Piece: 1766; Folio: 39; Page: 36 George born Chepstow, Mon., 1831 Mary Ann born Neath,West Glam., 1838 Ann born Briton Ferry, West Glam., 1860 That's the last reference I have been able to find for the family. Where did they go? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Paul |

Don't know if it's any use but I have just come across a death for an Ann Newberry, aged 9, in the June qtr of 1869 in Swansea registration district, pg 357 vol 11a. I was going to suggest this might be the same family in 1881, but the wife's name is given as Louisa. Address is The 6 Houses, Aberystruth, Monmouth. George Newbury Head Mar 45 b. Hi once again, I followed George Newbury's trail back to the 1861 census where it says boatman on the canal and has him as unmarried. It also says that he was born in Maiden Bradley, Somerset which is repeated through the next two census. Interestingly it says in 1861 not married but in 1871 he appears with a son aged 15 and with his wife Louise. I feel confident that this is not the George I am looking for although it did look like a good possibility. Many thanks Paul |

Hi Kate, I think you may be correct and that George's daughter Ann would have been 9 years old at this time. Only one way to find out and will have to get the certificate when I can. Many thanks Paul |
