Thanks for your reply Alexandra.. have searched scotlands people for PETER in the name of LAING and WATT but nothing found.. That's where the confusion is coming in feel like i've hit a brick wall..

sorry got spelling wrong ELIZABETH as IMLAH have looked and there was a family of that name in FYVIE at the time

Hi For information only. Think I would go back to Peter Laing and try to find his Birth reg. If you can find this then you can send for certificate to verify his Mother's name at least and possibly his birth Father's name. Hope this is of some help, don't have Scotland's people membership otherwise I would offer to help search. Lots of luck Alex

Either of Elizabeth's surnames could be wrongly transcribed. I would say IMAH is wrongly transcribed.

Trying to find info on the family of PETER LAING born FYVIE ABERDEENSHIRE.. i have his death notice which states him as being illigitimate his mother is down as ELIZABETH WATT deceased and for his father it says ROBERT LAING (Reputed father) ???? I know in the 1841 and 1851 census for FYVIE PETER is with his grandparents but can't find either of his parents.. there is a ROBERT LAING in FYVIE at that time married to ELIZABETH IMAH i think ...i am so confused by all this can anyone help in pointing me in the direction i can go now??? I can't find record of ELIZABETH WATT anywhere.... Thanks for reading this
