I need some advice, I am trying to get some records from the Netherlands and have been sent an email saying I can pay by using the IBAN number and BIC number they provided. Can I use my internet banking facility to do this or do I need to go to my bank branch. I have the option to pay by money order as well, which is the best to use? Dippy.

I think (only think!) you can ask your bank for their IBAN number .... and that fixes it! Regs Annie

I think (and I only think too, lol) that it is YOUR IBAN number you will need. This will be on your bank statements - I think it is a mixture of your account number and name. I don't see why you couldn't pay by internet banking. I think though, that if I were you, I'd ask your bank first before doing anything. Kath. x

The BIB (Bank Identifier Code) is the equivalent of a Bank Sorting Code and the IBAN (International Bank Account Number) is the Account. To send money you need to know the recipients details, which is what you appear to have been given. My bank does not allow you to use on-line banking for this, you have to visit the branch.

Everyone... thankyou for your replies. I think the safest option looks to be to go to my branch. I will have to skive out of work early tomorrow i think. Dippy.

Hi We send money by IBAN, from Germany to England on a regular basis and have no problems. Sheila
