I keep reaching a dead end in researching about my maternal Grandmother, Elizabeth Fowkes. She married an Arthur Downing in about 1909/1910 (He was born circa 1880 Birmingham or Silverdale Staffs area) But I have so far been unable to trace any record of their marriage. I have also tried to go back to the 1901 census and have found a number of possible matches to my Grandmother and had hoped that a marriage record would perhaps give me more info so that I could get a positive id but noo luck so far. Could anyone offer any advice regarding marriage records or what avenues I couls persue next. I would be very grateful. Many Thanks, Julie |

You need to buy the marriage certificate that Pat found, so that you have her approximate age. I can only find two unmarried Elizabeth Fowkes in Birmingham in 1901 but it could be either of them. Kath. x |
