My friend is a Polish national - next time I see him I'll get him to take a look. What would you actually like to know about the site? |

Ah, it looks like the website's down. I have it bookmarked and I can't access it from that either. I wonder what the Polish word is for 'Damn!' |

Hi Paul, you may have checked that the web address is correct ....... but it is not showing on here correctly!! Look at the couple of times that you've posted it to see what Roy means. GR does not allow web addresses to be out on these boards, they ahve a programme that blocks out part of the address. you have to be sneaky and do something like www(.)banje(.)pl(.)com (or whatever) or w w w . banje . pl |

Roy, I've doublechecked and the website I've given is correct. http://www.banie.pl Banie is the Polish name of the town that was called Bahn when it was German. Sandra, I'm not asking for translation, I'm asking for somebody who understands Polish to tell me if there's anything in the website that would be helpful. |

Paul, The web address that you give in your thread has not come out as it should? Try putting brackets or * next to the dots so we can have a look, from looking at the place name I found that Banie is a German translation for the Polish place name Bahn. Roy |

My ancestor Julius Fritz was born in 1834 in Bahn, Prussia. It's now called Banie and is a few miles inside the Polish border, south of Stettin. The town website has recently been greatly improved, so it now has far more information than when I was first researching 3 years ago. I would be really grateful if somebody could take a look at the website and tell me if there's anything useful on there for researching my ancestor. I had previously found a brief history of the town and some modern photographs. Many thanks. It can be found on: http://www.banie.pl |
