how do i find out if children had been adopted

my mum was adopted in 1952 i have looked up her birth mothers marriage cert she was married in 1938 then i looked from 1939 to see if any children had been born to the two family names so far i have come across 5 children being registered to them i want to know now how do i go about finding out if any of the other children were put up for adoption.

Hi You would have to order all the birth certificates to see if they been amended. They should state 'adopted' in the far column. Cheers Gerry.

Sorry to 'but' in but will the adopted childs birth certificate gine the parents names or are they removed??

they should still be in their original names as was my mums

No information is ever removed from the birth register. Birth certificates are amended if a name is later added, or the fathers name is later added, or if the mother and father later marry. When a child is adopted the original birth certificate is amended to state 'adopted'. Nothing on the original birth certificate is changed. Cheers Gerry
