Does not matter if married or maiden name but the system should be consistent and either always display one or display both. MB

With ladies, I cannot remember the order, I think they appear under maiden name, or could be married name arrrggghhh.

Sorting into date order fixed it, did notr realise you could do. The problem is that The message only shows the first name or nickname The message index shows one name The contact list shows a completely different name No wonder I could not find it! Why on earth can't they be consistent. MB

Have you tried sorting your contacts into date order? If you have not had contact with them before, they should be at the top.

It's possible that people have not enabled it though the default setting is enabled. It would be so easy if there was a direct link from the message. MB

I seem to quite often get messages asking me to look at someone's tree but when I look I cannot find it. I wonder if anyone else gets this problem. I have 50 pages of contacts so it is difficult to navigate around and of course you don't see the surname on the message, you have to go back to the index page to get that. I have just got through the 50 pages until I got where the surname should be but it was not there. I have found this in the past. Why can't there be a link direct from the message to the tree if you have been allowed to see it? Most of the time I can't identify who they are asking about because GR only gives the name but I might have 10 or 20 people with the same name. Unfortunately too many people ask without giving any information about the person in their tree that they think might match. Ancestry quote the name and dates so you can quickly work out who someone is asking about on their system. MB

Martin, perhaps they have mistakenly not given you permission to view their tree. I assume you have checked you contacts to see if they have.
