I now know – have cert – that my great grandfather died at 71 Ivy Lane, Hoxton in 1929 – the question is – how do I find out where he is buried? As far as I am aware he was not Catholic, Jewish or anything other than common-all-garden CofE, so can anyone throw any light on where I might start looking for a burial for him? Any thoughts gratefully received. Many thanks Looby

Hi Shirley Yes I have, bit of a nightmare because the most famous cemetary in Hoxton is the Old Jewish cemetary and Google brings up about 200 results the majority of them pertaining to this, so it's like wading through mud trying to find anything!!!! thanks for the thought Looby

Or you could try the East London Cemetery & Crematorium in Grange Road E13.

Many thanks all - Janet - have tried Abney Park, not there unfortunately Willow & Shelley will give those a try. I know Ivy Lane was not far from St John The Baptist church, where my grandparents were married and my dad christened, does anyone know where the burial records for this church might be? thanks all Looby

Hi looby .well as far as i know Baptist churches didnt have their own cemetaries. the funeral service may have been held there but he would have been buried elsewhere. probably the local council run cemetary..The baptist minister may have taken the service in the church of the cemetary. Have you tried contacting the parks and cemetaries dept of the local council Shirley Ps seems to come under the London Borough of Hackney
