If they emigrated to the US here is a great free site you can search. I found a great aunt who emigrated through Ellis Island in 1924. Information includes immigrant personal description such as height, hair and eye colour, and vessel info if you're lucky enough to have a hit. All info is scanned and online and free (donation if you like it), they charge you on Ancestry for this. ellisisland(dot)org |

These two both have passenger lists leaving UK - www.findmypast(.)com www.ancestry(.)co(.)uk (remove brackets from both) You can search the first one for free and get a basic listing of the results - further details/images are chargeable, but there is someone on here offering lookups - see Records Office board. Not sure whether you can get any info from the second for free, but again lookups are offered in the Records Office board. |
