Hi there, I am currently trying to find the parents of a Ronald Douglas Stewart born in Hawick, Scotland in Aug 1934 but I don't have a clue how to find him. Someone said something about Ancestry, this has worked in the past but I'm finding it really hard to locate his birth cert on there which would tell me his parents names. Can anyway do a look up for me please? Lisa Meighan |

Lisa, you wont find his birth cert on Ancestry, they do not have the Scottish BMD records. You may find it on Scotlandspeople, which you need credits for, but never used the site, so not sure of time restrictions/closure period on ordering certs etc. |

ScotlandsPeople only goes up to 1906 for births. After that date you need to apply to the Scottish General Register Office. They do have a website. Maureen |

Sorry, I didn't know what its called but I just meant the actual information ancestry gives you which isn't a birth cert but do you know what I mean? Sorry for the confusion! Does anyone have a membership to anything that could tell me this information for a scottish person? Thanks for the replies! x |

As already said, Lisa, you won't find this online. You would have to apply to the Scottish GRO. For earlier births, you can look on the Scotlandspeople website, but for the date you are looking for that is your only option. Kath. x |

www.gro-scotland.gov.uk This is the website you need to look at but as already mentioned you can not look at the birth details online and would have to order the certificate Maureen |
