Just to add make sure you order from the official site www.gro.gov.uk as lots of much more expensive look alike sites around. With Vol/Page it is £7.00 online.

Many thanks Deb (just starting) for the info in your reply. I imagine GRO stands for Genealogy Records Office and not being in UK would have to do this by e or snail mail. Could you possibly help me with the address of GRO ( I suppose it used to be Somerset House - in the old days that I remember!!) Sorry to sound like an idiot but things are more difficult from so far away and it is many many years since I lived in the old country. Kind regards Brian.

GRO stands for General Registry Office and if you google for it you can order the certificates online. Updated to add the return address on the last cert I recieved was ONS Smedley Hydro Trafalgar Rd SOUTHPORT, Merseyside PR8 2HH if that is any help.

Hi brian, You'd have to order certs from GRO to find out the info you're after. The full cert will state names, ages, occupations and addresses. Also father's names, occupation and address'.

Having viewed entries for several marriages I am interested in and extracted the folio and page numbers, can you tell me the next step to see a copy of a full certificate so that I can get more info about the people in question? Regards Brian.
