Hi, Her first marriage would have her maiden name, her second marriage would be under her first married name if a third marriage it would be under her second married name, I was unsure about this until I got copies of both my mums marriages. Debbie |

Any children of a second marriage will probably only show under her present name and her maiden name .there's no reason a first marriage should be recorded for her children of the second marriage |

I would say her first married name, although in more recent years if she has been married before she might be listed as Mary Jones or Smith. But in older records, if she was Mary Smith and married John Jones, then married Tom Brown, I would imagine she'd be indexed as Mary Jones marrying Tom Brown. With the later children, they would be named as Brown but the mother's maiden name might be down as 'Smith or Jones', assuming she did not omit that information, of course. |

Many thanks for the info - will save me search time. Would that apply to any subsequent children or will she still have to declare her maiden name? Sue |

Can anyone tell me if a woman remarried would she be listed under her maiden name in the marriage records or her married name before she married for the second time? Sue |
