Janice I think Glitter Baby is onto something with the 1871 census she posted because head of the household where Mary A Green is living is Henry Pettey and the marriage I found is for a Mary Ann Petty, so I think the Mary on the earlier census's is his first wife. Georgina.

Thanks everyone but the Wheatley names are the correct ones, Robert is my gt gt grandfather, his son George is my gt grandfather but I couldn't work out who the GREICE siblings are because their ages are in between the other siblings and two of them have the same Christain name as the Wheatley siblings HELP!!!

Robert Wheatley b 1827 married Mary Ann Clarke b 1837 in Sheffield and all siblings were born in Sheffield.

Janice it looks like his first wife could have died & he remarried possibly Mary Ann Petty who is showing as Mary Ann Green in 1871, the surname on the 1881 census looks like Green not Greice. On the 1871 census Mary A Green & her children are living in the same household as Henry Pettey, there is a possible marriage if Henry is using his middle name on the census, but where I am stumped is I cant find a death for George Henry Petty before the marriage between Robert Wheatley & Mary Ann Petty? I think Georgina I am completely confused!! The Greice siblings were born 1862 1866 & 1873 all in between the Wheatley siblings! The eldest Wheatley sibling b 1857 and the youngest b 1875. There's got to be some kind of mix up on the census surely?

Robert's first wife Mary dies & then Robert remarries Mary Ann Petty/Green in 1879, the Greice children showing on the 1881 census belong to Robert's second wife Mary Ann but the name has been mistranscribed in 1881 it should read Green not Greice. Are you with me so far??? Mary Ann Green on the 1871 census is showing as head of the family but when you look at the image there is a Henry Pettey/Petty living with her... 1871 census....
