Paul, I checked a bit and didn't see any Gerny's. Perhaps the spelling is off? One of my ancestors is found under 'Vans' (marriage information), but his family name was Vaus. You might try variations of Gerny as well.

Thanks Lorraine. Not enough to determine whether it's my Sarah, is it? I'll have to find other ways. Maybe she appears under the name of Sarah Gerny in later censuses. Thanks for looking it up.

There is a marriage registration for a Sarah Jane Stewart who was married in Brussels Huron on Dec 19, 1888. The reg. number is 005158. I can't access the details myself but I wonder if some kind soul could look it up for me. My Sarah was born around 1871 in Ireland, though she may have stated her place of birth as England. I just want to find what other details are on there to see if she is my Sarah.
