Can anyone advise me as to why, in the birth registrations, an * has been added against the names of two children from the same family and their names handwritten again at the bottom of the page saying 'see M62' and 'see J63' Many thanks Gill |

Hi Gillian, the star means see note *, the M62 and J63 means see March quarter 62 and June quarter 63, it may be a case of births registered in mothers maiden names, then marrying father and being re-registered in fathers name. |

Thanks Keith, I have found the births reregistered as you suggested. Do you know if the people involved would be able to obtain two birth certificates or does the second one void the first? Many thanks Gill |

gillian As you can only be born ONCE, you can only have one birth certificate. In THEORY, if you applied for the cert for the original registration, then you SHOULD get the re-registration - but it doesn't always happen like that! OC |
