Thanks Andrea, I think you've found him....wonderful. I'm quite sure this is him. Not concerned about the age being slightly out. I've got lots of rellies who lied about their age. makes it hard when searching though. Mary Elizabeth was alone but married in 1881 census, so this fits. Have just checked Thomas senior's occ and he's also a carpenter. Will have another look at marriage cert. I may have read it wrong. Have just checked cert and Thomas senior is a carpenter!!! Mary's father was the labourer. I'm such a twit. Deb:)

Sorry can't help with Smiths but have about 85 Jones's in my Tree.I have had to cross check all details I've found to get the right line. It helps if you know where they were born, who they married, and at least 2 of their children's names. I have dozens of wrong search details!! which can be really frustrating. I've learnt to send for certificates if in any doubt. If I can be of any help just give me a shout. Us Jonesies have to stick together!!! :0)

Do you think that this might be Thomas in 1881 Name: Thomas Smith Age: 22 Estimated birth year: abt 1859 Relation: Son Father's name: Thomas Herbert Mother's name: Mary Gender: Male Where born: Bedworth, Warwickshire, England Civil parish: Tamworth County/Island: Staffordshire Country: England Street address: Court 5 House 1 Church Street Condition as to marriage: Married Education: Employment status: View image Occupation: (Carpenter & Joiner) Registration district: Tamworth Sub-registration district: Tamworth ED, institution, or vessel: 2 Neighbors: View others on page Household Members: Name Age Herbert Smith 3 John Smith 8 Lizzie Smith 10 Mary Smith 46 Mary Ann Smith 18 Thomas Smith 22 Thomas Herbert Smith 44 I know his age and father's profession don't tie in with his marriage cert but he might have wanted to look older than his wife. He is married, his wife is elsewhere and he is a carpenter. Hi Gail and Julie, He married Mary Elizabeth Wright and she appears on 1881 census, living alone but married. She's a dressmaker. Can't find Thomas in 1881 but I know that he fathers my g/grandmother in 1882.Wondering if my Thomas had a middle name but simply didn't put it on certs. If so, the above reference from IGI could be him.

I've got a Thomas Smith in my direct line. How do I seperate him from the multitude of other Thomas Smith's. Working off g/grandmother's birth cert, my Thomas was living in Tamworth Staffordshire. From his marriage cert, he was born 1855, living in Tamworth and his father's name was also Thomas. Thomas junior is a carpenter and Thomas senior is a labourer. Help please, Deb:)
