Hello Hilary Have you tried looking at the record on Scotlands People,some of the mistranscriptions(? spelling) on ancestry on my scottish ancestors make me smile. Not having a go mind must be hard . |

I don't know if its any help,but when I was based up in Scotland in the navy,I remember a place called Linlithgow or Linlithgoe,I,ve just googled it and it's still there.Hope this helps. Paul |

Yes, tried googling, like you got nowhere. Would be grateful for anything. He was a stonemason apparently in earlier life. On 1851 census it said Pauper, former quarrier. I know there were lots of mines etc. there in those days. Thanks, Hilary. |

Have found my 3xgt. grandfather on 1851 census in Edinburgh, it says he was born in Bernins Blend, Linlithgowshire. Does anybody have any idea where it is please. Hilary. |
