This same John William comes up on ancestry linked to someone's personal file - barnett - do you have ancestry - you could contact them to see if they have any info that matches. |

What year did he marry? Who are the witnesses on the marriage cert? There is this one but fathers name differs - could he have had a step-father? Someone please help my GG was born in Strood Kent so all the family say but there is no record of his birth and we believe he was born 1879 to 1883, his marriage certificate says his father was George and he was deceased at the time of his marriage - George was a Mechant Seaman. The trouble is he moved to London where he met my Great Grandmother and when they married he never spoke to his family again so unsure why and no family members can help with this. Any ideas where I can look - he does not appear in 1881, 1891 or 1901 census - his name is John William Slater. Anyone any tips would be great. many thanks from behind a 10ft brick wall Dawn |

Gut thought? george never existed, had a step father that he didnt get on with and was born Illig, or wasnt a raised as a Slater |
