Not sure if it is just my internet connection or whether others are experiencing difficulties today with Ancestry. Trying to search BMD indexes and it is taking up to 3 -4 minutes for each page to display. Lots of drumming of fingers on the desk here LOL - Athena |

Hi Carole Yep, I'm still around! How's you? Genes is working fine for me but Ancestry is dreadfully slow - I don't have the patience to sit here waiting minute after minute just for one page to open up. I keep getting into a strop and closing it down completely, then I try again in a while to see if its cleared and it's back to the go slow again. You know how it is when you just want to get on and get stuck into your research but can't - days like this drive me potty! Hope you're calmer and a happier bunny than I am right now! Athena |

Hmmm - I wonder if it's slow because they are downloading more data on there perhaps. Oh well, have got work from my boss to do now so I'll try Ancestry again later on. Regards Athena |

I emailed Ancestry at the weekend to find out why the site was so slow and whether they could indicate when it would be back up to speed. They replied today to inform me that the site was having no such problems and, if I was still experiencing them, to phone their freephone technical support number. Last night page loading was as slow as dial-up (pretty unacceptable if you are using a 6 Mbps broadband connection) and this afternoon it is a bit better but still not right. Some pages are taking ages to load. Well, I have just read the comments on this GR board over the phone to the Ancestry technical support chap. He is puzzled as there shouldn't be the sort of problems we are experiencing. He is getting his technical team to look into it and whether there is a problem affecting British customers. I am surprised they seemed so unaware of what has been going on with their site. |

Well I just mentioned to someone on another site that all that Scottish census stuff they uploaded last week may be the cause - just imagine all those peeps rushing to check out their Scots ancestors. |

They sent me a link to a survey for that site. Guess what !!! I could not get to the end of it so did not have an opportunity to put any comments on. They have put so many adverts on there that everything else has been shoved over to the far left of the page. Did send Ancestry an email about the adverts but they are not really bothered hearing about any complaints. Site has been down a lot lately with the maintenance message appearing too frequently.
