How do you trace patient deaths?

Hi, does any one out there have any ideas on how to trace hospital deaths?. My grandmother Margaret Mccarten nee Harris was in a mental institution suffering from bi-polar from 1934c until her death in 1941/2.I can't find a record of her death anywhere.In Liverpool there are 2 mental institutions Rainhill & Winnick,but new to this huntihg malarky so would appreciate any wisdom.Thanks |

Mary there is a death for Margaret A Mccarten in the March quarter 1943 in Prescot aged 58 ref no: 8b-706. Could that be her? Georgina. |
