I agree with Elaine - the CWGC entry gave as much, if not more, info about my husband's great uncle who died in France in WWI, but it you want to search for the GRO death index entry online, www.findmypast(.)com has the indexes in their overseas section, from which you can order the certificate in more or less the normal way. I did order a certificate after finding my ggrandfather on the CWWG site. Ths official cert was written in hand and says killed in action. CWWG was far more informative and I would not choose to order the cert again to confirm any findings, although I have heard of discrepancies!!! Elaine

The GROs should have him also but usually it just says died in action

hi lil Google CWCG and you will get it. I,m not good at disguising websites on here cos genes wont let you post the full thing. Shirley PS its short for Commonwealth graves commision but CWCG will find it

well he should be on the CWCG site and should state where he was buried. The death cert MAY be in the overseaes section but not sure. Shirley

Can anyone please tell me if you died in action 1917 in france where i would obtain this Death Cert or would one not have been issued? Lil xx
