My great grandfather seems to appear at home as the head of the household with his wife and children on the 1891 census, but also as a visitor with his mother and father on the 1891 census. Is this possible?

Sometimes parents get muddled up and give the wrong child's name, maybe that was the case and it was another child there.

The census return was supposed to show who was in the household at midnight. I am sure lots of people filled it in, then went to bed at 10.30pm, expecting son/father/brother etc to be home later, and couldnt be bothered to change it when said son/father/brother whatever, stayed out all night. OC

Ive had my great aunt on the 1901 apparently at home and also down the road at aunties. And as Ive mentioned before - to my great embarrassment - when my descendants read the 2001 census my youngest son will be at home and also at boarding school.
