My great grandfather seems to appear at home as the head of the household with his wife and children on the 1891 census, but also as a visitor with his mother and father on the 1891 census. Is this possible? |

Sometimes parents get muddled up and give the wrong child's name, maybe that was the case and it was another child there. |

The census return was supposed to show who was in the household at midnight. I am sure lots of people filled it in, then went to bed at 10.30pm, expecting son/father/brother etc to be home later, and couldnt be bothered to change it when said son/father/brother whatever, stayed out all night. OC |

Ive had my great aunt on the 1901 apparently at home and also down the road at aunties. And as Ive mentioned before - to my great embarrassment - when my descendants read the 2001 census my youngest son will be at home and also at boarding school. |
