Was she your dad's or your mum's mother? I'm assuming from your surname that she was your mother's but I may be wrong. If you get your mum's birth certificate (or your dad's if it's his mum) then this will have her maiden name on it. You can then look for her marriage certificate, which will give you her father's name and occupation, which will help when looking for her birth. Kath. x

Hi This is the only 1900 (+-1) Q1 birth for a Mary Ruby from volume 11a (Wales) asuming she was born in Wales of course. Ruby Mary O Jackson 1900 Jan-Feb-Mar Llanelly Carmarthenshire, Glamorgan HTH ... Paul

This is her death Q3 1972 Gilbert, Mary Ruby, DOB 21 Feb 1900, Cardiff 8b 851. Do you know her maiden name (assuming she was married)? From that we could find her birth.

i found out my gran passed away in 1972 in cardiff in a nurseing home called hazelcroft which has since closed down i even no where she was laid to rest but iam hitting abrick wall trying to find anything else about her ive looked at wills cant find anything there her name was MARY RUBY GILBERT has any one got any idias please brian
