fathers name on marriage cert but.....

...i know my man had no parents.. is it likely that he would have put a fathers name and deceased rather than say he had no parents. everything else matches up on the cert apart from this... can i have opinions please, thanks, Karen

not sure what you mean by ''my man had no parents'' do you mean that by the time he married both his were dead?

he was abandoned as a baby in Ewell,Surrey.

I have an ancestor who has a different name for her father on both her birth cert and her marriage cert,on searching I found that the man named on her marriage cert was the father of the man named on her birth cert.I haven't got to the bottom of that one yet. Daisy

sorry i didn't reply......been out for lunch... Mine has put the same name as his own for father and then deceased....but everthing else matches up.......he was born in 1836 so no birth cert to worry about but i just need to get to Surrey at some point and find out when he was admitted to the workhouse......he was in there aged 5 in 1841.......terribly sad, thanks for all your replies, Karen
