Can anybody tell me how to find army records from the Boer war? I have just discovered that my great grant father served in the war and as I have not been able to find a birth for him was hoping that service records may shed some light.

I don't know of exact records but if you google Boer War shipping lists you get transcriptions from newspapers; of course only officers are named. Ozi.

Thanks Ozi, I have tried everything and have had no joy. Just thought service records may be available somewhere, he was only a private in the army.

Dear Edna If you 'google' the name Kevin Asplin it will take you onto his excellent site. He has listings for soldiers serving in the Boer War. Fingers crossed you get lucky!! Best wishes Maria
