If, in 1858, someones birth was registered in St Mary, Marylebone, which church would they likely have been baptized in please? Kim (I'm going to break this brick one way or another! lol) |

One way would be to look for the person on 1861 census, and find out the Ecclesiastical Parish in which he/she was resident........and hope that it was the same as the birth parish. I'm taking it as read that you have checked the IGI?????? Reg |

Reggie That's my problem, unfortunately my gt grandfather is a 'visitor' on the 1861, with people that have no connection to us, then doesn't show up again until 1881 census, married. Kim |

I dont know where you live, but I get the train down to Kings Cross or Farringdon and walk, its just 10 min down the road. Its a very relaxed RO, you dont need ID etc, you just sign in. |

Karen That's really thoughtful, thank you, but where my gt grandfather was born, Gt Quebec St, is no longer. I do have an old map of it tho, from 'Motco', a good site to see how London looked in the 1800's, hope it helps you. Kim |

Kim, my granddfather was registered in St.Marys, St.Marylebone and was baptised in the church of St.Mary in Marylebone Road, his sister was baptised in St. Thomas. Baptismal records are on microfiche at FRC in Myddleton Street and I believe are also available at Kew as well as the LMA. The FRC will not be closing for some time yet, it is certainly open during the whole of 2007. Kathleen |
