A relli on the 1861 census is not living at home. He is listed as a boarder and is 17 years old. In the occupation column he has ....Do Do...the occupation of the person 2 places above him is...Almswoman. Would a 17 year old be living on the 'parish' if he is a boarder??? His details are....AMOS ATTWATER, born 1844, Horsham, mother Mary, father Joseph Your thoughts please. Kathlyn |

Can you post the name and census reference, it often helps if we can view the image. Jennifer |

Although the ditto marks should refer one back to the entry above, I wonder if in this case it refers to the Ag labs, who are elsewhere on the page. They seem to be followed by alot of ditto marks . Have you noted the ages of the husband and wife in the house with Amos? It may be right....or perhaps this enumerator was not the most accurate. Gwyn |

I think the Ditto notation carries down from the top of the page - Amos Attwater is an Ag Lab - agricultural labourer. Diane |

He is not living on the Parish, neither is the person above. Alms were received from a charitable organisation and were not parish relief. Jennifer |
