Are you looking in the FreeBMD index on Ancestry or the full one? If she was only born in 1868 it's possible she died after 1914 - this is how far the transcribed index goes at the moment, but you might find her in the full index. Only thing is, you have to go through that quarter by quarter.

Do you know when her husband died? Maybe she remarried. Sam x

With the full index, if you're going through the images you get an image of the page of the registration index but you can't isolate a particular surname. I will start looking through from 1911 as I couldn't find her up to that date.

1) go to http://ancestry.*co.uk/search/rectype/vital/freebmd/bmd.aspx 2) Click deaths for 1837-1983 complete index and images 3) type surname in the search box 4) input a year and select range then click search you will now have a list of quarters containing that surname. some quarters are mistranscribed. you will still have to look through all the other surnames on the page but at least you don't have to start at A!

I've been up to the end of 1921 but so far haven't found her. Will keep looking.
