Sometimes Ancestry search engine does not always show the correct results and their are missing quarters and pages in the search results, when this happens you need to click on any quarter and at the top of the page where it says, You are here: Search > England & Wales, Birth Index: 1837-1983 > 1865 > Q1-Jan-Feb-Mar > H ( in this example it is 1865 ) then the next page will show all avalable quarters, click on the one that was missing and the next page will have a list of letters down the left side of the page click on the letter of the surname you are looking for and all the index will be there in Alphabet order, you can navigate these images by entering a page number and clicking the go button. Tina You can look for missing qtrs on ancestry. Next time when you go into the image look up where it shows where the year is click on it, then i takes you to the 4 qtrs click on the one you want then click on the letter you want Julie

You can usually see the missing qtrs. on Ancestry (it's a bit long winded):- Open one of the images for a qtr. that IS there. Then click on the year at the top of the image. This should bring up a list of all four qtrs. Click on the one that was missing. You will get a list of letters of the alphabet. Click on the one your name starts with. Then scroll through the pages until you get the one with the name you are looking for. Kath. x

Hi Tina, there actually are very few completely missing quarters in the marriages, Dec 1925 being one. To find a missing quarter, search the year, search a showing quarter, then click on the year above ie 1924 in this instance You are here: Search > England & Wales, Marriage Index: 1837-1983 > 1924 > Q2-Apr-May-Jun This will show the quarters for the year, click on the quarter you want, will bring up alphabet, click on letter you want. (note approx page number from another quarter for name) then go to that page number, search back or forward from there. Hope this helps late again lol

If you are looking for say Turner and can't bring up the correct 1/4 you should try as the third letter an earlier one ie Tup. If it doesn't bring up the correct one then try again (Tul) keep on til you get the result and work forward with the pages. (Can you guess I can't figure how to explain this)

Thank you Janet...I have found one quarter but not the other. Oct/Dec 1925....this is spooky...it's actually a marriage with a Turner I need, and Keiths reply re: qtr....had to be the one I want.... Tina
