Slightly off subject, but possibly useful, this site has a map with the parishes outlined for London. It is helpful to "pin down" addresses given in the censuses for London. |

Sometimes people made the mistake of stating in censuses where they GREW UP instead of where they were BORN, so be careful! |

Kim, If you know her parent's names, I would give them as checking points (although only if you are sure of them), so that you don't get the wrong certificate. Kath. x |

At that time Hackney covered Stoke Newington, so I would go with this one:- Edith Barton March qtr. 1883, Hackney, 1b, 499 Kath. x |

I am trying to find the birth certificate of an Edith Barton who shows as born in London Stoke Newington on the 1891 census. She is 8 in that year so would be born about1883. There are several births of course for that time, but I am not sure on my districts in London and wondered if Hackney would possibly be the right one. Regards Kim |
