Member Since: August 2003 Posts: 1 Send Message	I think my great grandfather (1869) may have been a soldier but I've no idea about regiment. He was certainly a soldier in 1917.Has anyone any idea how I can find out where he was ... I know he existed I have photograph!!!

	Pauline Every able bodied man was a soldier in 1917, so that isnt in itself proof that he was a career soldier. Did he marry? If so, have you got his marriage cert? That will give you his father's name and you can then work backwards in the time-honoured manner. OC

	in 1917 he was knocking 50 - not impossible but unusual for a non regular soldier. Have you found his medals card on NA?
