Unfortunately you cannot search for yourself - you have to give them the details (and money) and they will look for you!! Email them and ask for help as a first step P

Hi there I'm looking at the site that Peter in NZ quoted but cannot see a way to search for the record that I'm after. I'm looking for Herbert Forder who drowned at sea in Auckland, NZ on 22 Oct 1888. How do I find him? Jill

Some information here. http://www.directgov.gov.uk/en/RightsAndResponsibilities/Death/WhatToDoAfterADeath/DG_10029476 Registering the death where the person died All deaths must be registered in the country where the death occurs - a foreign (local) death certificate will then be issued. Your tour guide, the local police or the British Consul can advise you on how to do this. You can also often register the death at the British Consulate as well. You don't have to do this, but if you do you'll be given a UK death certificate and a record will be kept at the General Registry Office's Overseas Registration section in the UK. It's not possible to register the death with the British authorities in Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Canada, Ireland, South Africa or Zimbabwe. Gail x

I have just discovered a cousin I was searching for died hence no record of marriage etc. He apparently died in New Zealand (think he was on holiday) I can't find a death entry on ancestry. Can anyone tell me if he died in NZ would the death be registered there, if so where do I find it or would it have been registered once brought back to England. He is Barry J Knight born 1943 in London died aged approx. 27years. All help appreciated.
