Hi I'd really appreciate an image check please. HO107; Piece: 2025; Folio: 469; Page: 36 I'm looking for the family below Cornelia Baker H born 1799 Tipton, engineer. Elizabeth Baker w born 1796 Tipton, plus children. Living at 40 Horton Street, I'm looking for the surname of the family at 41 Horton street. I think their surname has been mistranscribed and am seeking other's view on the surname. I've been looking for this family and have just discovered them living next door to his father-in-law. But when I put in the correct surname they can't be found anywhere. Hope this makes sence. thanks Lou

Henry Firsedy or Fersedy?

Thanks again Lou Hi Pork Pie, Yes I know they're transcribed as Tweedy, but i don't think the writing corresponds with the words. It was only when I found Cornelia who should read Cornelius that I saw what I thought read Fereday, it was only when I tried to read the children's names that I discovered they were transcribed as Tweedy, Henry & Catherine's dob & area's match and so does his occupation. It is hard to read, but could be Firsedy or Firiedy. Does anything like that make sense? Henry is a coal miner. Ozi.

I would say that the last 3 letters are defo (edy) If you compair the first letter with where born Tipton, then i would say that the first letter is a (T) Roy

Pork Pie, I know what you mean, yet I'm still not sure. I've taken a look at the T in Tipton for the first family on the census and it definately looks more like a T than the T in Tweedy. Lou

Hi Pork Pie, I've taken another look at the last 3 letters and your right they are definately 'edy', but that doesn't mean to say it's more proof like the surname is likely to be Tweedy. They could have mispelt the surname to read Feredy, or am I trying to make it read more like Fereday? any other thoughts would be much appreciated. Lou

Hi It appears that the surname on the 1851 should be Fereday. Although it is transcribed as Freeday on the 1861, and Farraday on the 1881, Henry's son also Henry is clearly shown as Fereday on the 1891. Also, a Henry Fereday married a Catherine Baker in 3q.1845 ref. West Bromwich 18/592. Hope this helps G
