Hi Suzanne I know the place quite well as a lot of my ancestors lived around there. I know of a couple of sites online that are worth a look. Let me know if you are interested and I will get back to you. Julie

Hi Suzanne You could try http://www.scotlandsfamily*com/ I did a google search + came up with http://abstuk*co.uk/uk/knockando (replace * with .) Knockando is a settlement situated in Scotland in the United Kingdom. It is located in the Moray region. Knockando is 104 miles from the Scottish capital Edinburgh. If you google you may just find what you are looking for. Regards Ann

You need to stick with SP really but there is also a very good site that operates as a chat site/message board just for Scottish genealogy - very friendly and helpful. www.talkingscot.com

Hey Suzanne A lot of people have been having problems recently with SP and passwords ect so i think it may be a problem on their side. Try emailing them about it, they can be very helpful. If you nolonger want to use SP then it could cost you a lot more money if you dont live in Scotland, even if you do live in Scotland you have to near somewere that has the records you want. There is a thread about Scottish websites on the records board. Try searching for it. If you cant find it then let me know and i'll nudge it up for you. Mhairi

That happens sometimes with Scotland's People, just persevere. Maybe try using Internet Explorer instead of your usual browser. Ancestry.co.uk now has some of the Scottish census returns, free if you're a member. Or if you're anywhere near Edinburgh, you can see all the stuff on Scotland's People for about £5, and up to the present day as well. Can save a fortune!! In Glasgow, the Mitchell Library has lots of info including not just census returns but poor law records etc which can be fascinating. Unfortunately if you're not up here in bonny Scotland, there's not a lot you can use except Scotland's People and Ancestry!
