Petition Re Census Date Change to 70 years

I disagree with this. The 100 year old rule is a good one in that it protects the vast majority of living people. If you reduce the rule to 70 years then there will be many living people who may have facts revealed (e.g. illegitimate) that they would prefer to keep private. And ... yes ... I know that the 1931 census was destroyed. |

Yes, I'm afraid there have been at least ten threads on the subject in recent weeks. The water has already been tested in parliament and there was no appetite for a change. Given the current concern about the government wanting to have more and more of our personal information held on their computers, they are unlikely to even lift the lid on this one. |
