Hi again Gail, I've just googled the distance between Kings Norton and Alderminster, Loxley and Stratford upon Avon which were the areas she is known to have lived in and it is approximately 30 miles from each of them, so not too far is it? Thanks Gail, I'm not sure of the geography either but Warwickshire and Worcestershire were definately areas she had lived in. I will send for the cert and keep my fingers crossed because the age seems to fit. Will the death cert show her occupation? as I can't think of what else to use to check against but her last known occupation. Thanks again Carol

I wouldnt rule out emigration either, on the grounds of poverty - the Workhouses, parish authorities, churches etc all had a vigorous programme of assisted (free) emigration). OC

Hi, I haven't got her birth certificate yet but I had some help from Stratford on Avon records office and my Elizabeth and Elizabeth Minna Rose definately are two different people. Carol

Hi Carol do you have her birth cert without a middle name - I know several of mine 'dropped' them on later censuses, but are shown on certs with them - if you're really stuck might be worth the £7 for the cert just to finally rule her out. Everything else seems to fit - or you could try tracing Elizabeth Minna back on the census to prove it - will have a look for you. regards Looby

Hi Looby and Sam, the Elizabeth Rose I am looking for had no middle name, so unfortunately it rules out Elizabeth Minna Rose. I have checked the full marriage index on ancestry not just the partial one. I haven't considered the possibility of her having emigrated, in 1878 she gave birth to her son in the workhouse and on 1881 census she was a domestic servant so I would have thought money would have been an obsticle there. Am I wrong to assume that? I have definately missed something somewhere. Carol

Have you checked the full marriage indexes on Ancestry rather than the partial ones? Have you checked the deaths, just in case? Could she have emigrated?

Hi, with the help of several members I managed to track my great great grandmother Elizabeth Rose down to the Golden Lion, Stratford upon Avon on the 1881 census but where did she go next? I can't find her on the 1891 census. I spent the early hours searching marriages on Ancestry between 1881 and 1891 and checking the census for the people who married to see if any of them were her but no luck. Have I missed something, again? Please help!
