Yes, they were supposed to round the ages down, but they didn't always do it, as you sometimes see proper ages - e.g. 27 or 39 etc. They just like to make it difficult for us, lol. Kath. x |

I have just read the directions for filling in the 1841 census. It is very interesting. One thing to note is the ages for over 15 were supposed to be written down as-- E.G. aged between 20 and under 25 write 20..For 25 and under 30 write 25. So even if true ages were known it could be 4 years out. Olly |
