Hi Lorraine, I live in the Netherlands and I have been looking around for you. The problem is 1) you need to know which province the birth/marriage took place in, because records are kept locally, and 2) not all records are available on the internet. I haven't been able to find much. The surname Hoeksma is a typical surname from Friesland so I had a look in their online archives. Another problem is that Janneke is also a boy's name [it means 'little Jan']. I did find one possible birth: Geboorteakte Lemsterland, Friesland, 1852 Aangiftedatum 20 december 1852, blad nr. 81 Janneke Hoeksma, geboren 19 december 1852 Dochter van Sietze Feites Hoeksma en Tetje Sietzes van Veen Translation: Birthcertificate Lemsterland, Friesland, 1852 Registered on 20th December 1852, page number 81 Janneke Hoeksma, born 19th December 1852 Daughter of Sietze Feites Hoeksma and Tetje Sietzes van Veen. On 'the other site' there is someone who is much better at doing Dutch research than I am. If you PM me I could give you furthur info about her. good luck, Krissie. |

Looking for my G/grandmother born Janneke Hoeksma, she married my G/grandfather (a German, Franz Gatzenmeyer) in 1883 in Holland maybe Amsterdam. 2 Children were born in Amsterdam c1891 and 1896. This marriage ended in c1899 He went back to Germany and remarried I can not find what happen to Janneke. Her son (in Australia) received letters from Rotterdam and Amsterdam from her up to 1932 then nothing. Were divorces recorded, or if she changed her name back to the maiden name would this have been on record. ?? |
