I have a small mystery i am having trouble working out.... I have a William Thomas Lynch b1865 Liverpool in 1891 as a visitor in his sisters house. In the same house is a child called Patrick Lynas b1884 Ireland. On the 1901 census im sure its the same people William Thomas and Patrick, but now the boy is called Lynch not Lynas. William Thomas was married on both forms but I cant locate his wife in 1891. in 1901 he lives with his wife Catherine 1871 Liverpool and several other children all born in Liverpool. The strange thing is that Lynas was the maiden name of Williams mother who was born in Ireland. I cant work out how they are related... Cheers Kath

It does say Son doesn't it for Patrick in 1901 Gail.

yes but why would he not have his fathers name on the 1891 if he was his father

Hi Katherine Margaret is William Thomas's sister I presume, but who is Mary Lynch aged 40 from Ireland on the 1891 census.. or could Patrick be Patrick Lynas Lynch but enumerated just as Patrick Lynas? 1891 For REFERENCE Wm Thos Lynch Age: 25 Estimated birth year: abt 1866 Relation: Boarder Where born: Liverpool, Lancashire, England Civil parish: Liverpool Ecclesiastical parish: St Catherine and St Saviour Patrick Lynas 7 Boarder Born Ireland.
